An Economic Operators Registration and Identification (EORI) number is a unique ID allocated to business or individuals who intricate with custom activities within the EU. The EORI number is used to track and classify economic operators in all custom processes, making sure a smooth, well-organized and effectual trade across European Union borders.

European Union based Businesses and Individuals who are involved in customs activities as well as None-European Union business and individuals importing goods into the European Union countries. The countries where EORI number is a must are as follows:

Andorra, Switzerland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Norway, Gibraltar, Moldova, Guernsey, Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Jersey.

Although it is a straight forward process to get and EORI number, however, if your business is based outside of the EU the process is slight different.

Post-Brexit UK: If you are a UK based business or Individual, you might need to apply for UK EORI as well as European EORI.
